To find out which 2 person camping tent is the most spacious we look at what the space per person ratio of each model is.
It is clear that the most spacious 2 person waterproof camping tent is the Nightcat Pop Up Tent.
- Night Cat Pop-Up: Spacious interior, can fit up to four adults, making it exceptionally roomy for two. It’s inner measurements look as follows: 114″L x 79″W x 48″H.
- MC TOMOUNT: Offers adequate space for two, with a balance between comfort and compactness. Without the rainfly, just the inner tent measures 89.7”*55.1”*45.2”.
- Featherstone: Designed with a spacious interior, emphasizing comfort for two backpackers. Its total dimensions are maybe on the smaller side from tents on this list, with 84″L x 51″W x 43″H.
- Naturehike Mongar 2: Provides ample space for two, with a focus on maximizing internal use. It’s size is really similar to the Featherstone tent, but noticeably a little bit shorter 83″L x 53″W x 40″H. To be fair it felt difficult to get out of the tent door without touching it.
- KAZOO Venus: Compact and more suitable for solo backpackers or a parent and child, rather than two adults comfortably. Even shorter and smaller than the Featherstone tent or the Naturehike Mongar 2 with measurements of 82″Lx51″Wx39″H.
Weight to Size Ratio
Of course size is not all that matters. If you will be backpacking, the best 2 person camping tent also has to be as light as possible. Finding the right balance between waterproofing, durability and weight is the holy grail of waterproof tent design.

The Naturehike Mongar 2 is not much heavier than the Featherstone. However if you want to backpack over long distances, that 0.7 lbs of extra weight can count for a lot!

- MC TOMOUNT: This waterproof 2 person camping tent does a good overall job. It is not exceptional in any way, but a jack of all trades. - Night Cat Pop-Up: I would not attempt camping with it in difficult weather conditions. It is not the most aerodynamic, wind resistant or waterproof. However 2000 mm is enough to give you shelter against quick summer rains. Here is the longer review of the Night Cat.
- Featherstone: This is the perfect solution for backpackers looking for high quality. With the highest waterproof rating of any 2 person waterproof backpacking tent on the list, choose this one if you plan on camping in especially soaking wet circumstances. Not to mention its price. - Naturehike Mongar 2: Suited for budget-conscious, quality-seeking campers. Naturehike Mongar 2 goes for under 150 dollars and you get the features of some tents that would cost well over 200. The most important features of 2-person waterproof camping tents include:
- Size: You must be able to sleep with your partner comfortably. If the tent has vestibules, it is a plus!
- Weight: The lighter your tent, the better. If you are going on a long trip, more than 5-5.5 lbs is impossible to carry.
- Waterproof rating: I recommend tents above a 2000 mm rating. If you can expect frequent rainfall, at least 3000 mm is recommended.
- Durability: Pole structure and stake design are an often overlooked. Go for tents with aluminium poles.
- Quick setup: Nobody wants to spend valuable time nibbling around with a difficult to set up tent. If your tent takes more than 10 minutes to set up, it is not a viable option in my opinion.
