It is one natural that in our fast paced world we want a combination of low prices and high value. It is certainly possible to find great waterproof tent under $100. In this article I looked at products that stand in that sweetspot of value and performance. Here is a list of the best waterproof tents under $100.

Best Waterproof Tents Under $100

Night Cat Pop Up Tent

This product is special, as it is ready for use as soon as you take it out of its bag. Hence the term ,,pop up tent”. You don’t need to build an external frame for it before starting to use it.

I am a quite lazy person, much rather spend my time fishing, cooking on the campfire instead of wasting time with the poles or in general setting up my tent. This is why I loved the Night Cat Pop Up Tent.

On the negative side, it is not the most waterproof tent ever. The 190 thread polyurethane tent fly is only 2000 mm HH waterproof. This is three season category. Basically it means you will be fine if the rain surprises you. However don’t expect this tent to keep you dry if it rains for days without stop. I recommend using the Night Cat Pop Up Tent in areas where generally it is sunny and you don’t get more than a sudden summer rain.

  • Takes only one minute to assemble.
  • Great ventilation.
  • Huge inner space, three adults, or a family with two children can sleep in it comfortably.
  • On the negative side, the rainfly is only 2000 mm HH waterproof. This is lower three season tent category.
  • Not the most stable tent in heavy winds and long lasting storms.

NTK Colorado GT

NTK Colorado GT waterproof Tent

What I appreciate about the NTK Colorado GT is that it does the job without any flashy extras. It is reliable, easy to assemble, spacious enough and has good enough waterproofing for a 3 season tent.

The NTK Colorado has a few design features that make it really easy to use. First of all, it has two big doors, and as a result two vestibules. The vestibules are big enough that people can store their dirty shoes and gear in them with ease. The pole system makes it really easy and fast to set up the NTK Colorado.

The NTK Colorado is a double wall tent. Basically the whole upper part of the inner wall is made of mesh. Plus there is a 2500 mm HH waterproof rainfly that you can attach. The mesh inner wall provides great ventilation, while the rainfly will keep everything dry inside. Double wall tents have a sweet mix of keeping you safe both from condensation and rain. • Fast and easy to set up.
  • Two huge doors and vestibules. Easy to get in and out, plus vestibules give you extra storage space.
  • Double wall tent, external rainfly with 2500 mm HH waterproofing.
  • With 8.6 lbs, it is a little heavy for a 3 person tent.

Night Cat Backpacking Tent

The Night Cat 2 person backpacking tent has one huge advantage compared to the other products on this list. It has 3000 mm HH waterproofing for barely over $30. You will not get this great waterproof outer rainfly without at least paying double.

Of course this means in other areas the tent could improve. For one, the poles were poorly designed shock-cord connected fiberglass poles. When I was setting up the tent I got stung by small pieces of fiberglass.

However with all of its faults, the tent has merits. If you want an entry level waterproof tent, you could do worse than the Night Cat. Let’s imagine your son has a camping trip coming up with school and you don’t want to invest a lot but you need a solid solution. The Night Cat Backpacking tent is just what you need! Here is a longer review of the Night Cat backpacking tent.

Conclusion

I will keep adding tents to this list as I review them. However I didn’t want to put tents here that I wouldn’t use myself. This concludes the review of the best waterproof tents under $100.
